Abstract

The objectives of the research are to describe the implementation of using mingle games in improving students’ speaking skill at the eighth grade students of SMP N 1 Karanggede. This research was also intended to identify the significance improvement of students’ speaking skill at the eighth grade students of SMP N 1 Karanggede after being taught by using mingle games. This research used classroom action research. To describe the significance improvement of students speaking skill, the researcher used pre-test and post-test. The researcher used two cycles; each cycle consists of two meetings. The meeting consists of planning, action, observation and reflection. The researcher found that the students become active in teaching and learning process. The results of this research in each cycle show that the score of students speaking skill was improved. The mean of pre-test in cycle I is 64.46 and the mean of post test is 69.64, while the mean of pre-test and post-test in cycle II is 71.13 and 77.42. The significance improvement in cycle I is to 7.362 ? t table 1.703. The same result is also in Cycle II, it is shown by to 9.611 ? t table 1.697. Based on the explanation above, the researcher concluded that the students speaking skill was improved after using mingle games in teaching learning process
