Abstract

The benefits from this research are: (1) to know how far readingcomprehension achievement in the first years of The First Year Students ofMAN Salatiga in the Academic Year of 2008/2009. (2). To know theinfluence of reading assignment in English lesson toward studentsachievement in reading comprehension of The First Year Students of MANSalatiga In The Academic Year of 2008/2009. (3) To know the suitable waystoward reading comprehension achievement in the first years of The First YearStudents of MAN Salatiga in the Academic Year of 2008/2009To gets the data for writing down this thesis the writer applied severalmethods and can be divide for three types there are: document study, fieldresearch, and statistical methodsBased on applied several methods above the researcher discovered theresult that: ( l) The average score reading comprehension achievement ofMAN Salatiga before summarizing English text is 64, and after summarizingEnglish text is 73,66. (2) Based on the result oft-test analysis shows 2, 26.Then it is compared with the figure on the t-table with 5% of significance indegree of freedom 29 shows 2,045. Because the t-test (t-empiricy value ishigher than t-table (t-theoretic) value so summarizing English text to studentswill have significant influence toward students in reading comprehensionachievement. (3) Based on the data which received, one of the suitable waystoward reading comprehension achievement of MAN Salatiga in theAcademic Year of 2008/2009 is summarizing English text
