Abstract

This study concerned to analyze the context of situation on Khaled Hosseini'snovel entitled The Kite Runner. The purpose of the research was to find out thewhat is happening, the nature of the social action that is taking part (field), who istaking part, their status and roles (tenor), and kind of the part of language isplaying (mode) of Khaled Hosseini's novel entitled The Kile Runner. The researchmethodology of the reseach was qualitative method by using research object (TheKita Runner novel) and some sources from some references. The result of thestudy showed that the field of the book was about humanity includingbrotherhood, love, friendship, treason, loyalty, expiation of sin, and suffering. Thetenor was between the boss and the servant which had unequal power, frequentcontact, and high affective involvement. The mode was in written form, usinginformal language with some characteristics of it.
