Abstract

From the result of the study which is conducted by the writer showed that thestudents' reading habit and ability to summarize give a positive contribution to thestudents' writing ability. This is proved by the statistical analysis of the writer to thecollected data in this research. The result of data analysis showed that a good readinghabit and ability to summarize have significant influence for improving the students'ability in writing. However, a good reading habit will contribute for having good abilityto summarize even to the students' ability in writing. Therefore, reading a lot is veryneeded as the basic complement to contribute for producing a good summarizing. Then,it will be very help the students to have good ability in writing. Unfortunately, there aresome problems related to this case, such as less interesting and understanding ofstudents about the importance of reading which is affected by their environment around.Thus, hopefully a verification of the problem will be a solution to anticipate the factorabove, even to solve and giving a better understanding for the students about theimportance of reading a lot. Finally, it will help the students to solve their problemrelated to writing, moreover for increasing their achievement in writing.
