Abstract
Creating a new method iJ,(English teaching learning that is also interesting forstudents is not an easy way. A good media does not always catch up students'interest. As an example drama that is used in the Speaking class which is taken bythe writer for this research. The purposes of doing this research are to find out thedata of students' playing drama interest, the data of students' speaking achievement .and the correlation between playing drama interest and students' speakingachievement. The techniques of collecting the data that are applied by the writer aredocumentation and questionnaire. The data which have been collected are analyzedby using some books and documents for the theoretical data and using productmoment for the quantitative data. From the calculation of the product momentcorrelation, the result of the correlation is 0.80. It means that the influence of playingdrama interest toward students' speaking achievement of the sixth semester ofEnglish Department students in STAIN Salatiga in the academic year of 2010/2011can be categorized in a high level. It means that the higher interest they have, thehigher achievement they get in the Speaking class, because the amoum of theirplaying drama interest is the stimulus for them to be more intended.
