Abstract

In this study, the writer chooses the "I Not Stupid" Movie to be analyzed.Something unique from this life is language variation, so the writer interest inanalyze it. There are two research problems proposed of this study; What arelanguage variation of "I Not Stupid Movie" and its types? And What are thedifferences between English standard dialect and regional dialect in "I NotStupid" Movie?.Qualitative study is used in this research; it means that it doesn't needstatistic approach to describe the material. In this study, writer research aboutlanguage variation in the "I Not Stupid" movie. Qualitative research is a search ofwhich the data written or oral word are descriptive analyzed. The data sources areprimary data is script from the movie "I Not Stupid". The other data is taken frommany kinds of books and relevant materials from internet such as books ofliterature theory and language variation.The result of this study is the language variation of "I Not Stupid" movieis Singapore English and it's called "Singlish". The differences of regionaldialect in "I Not Stupid" movie and Standard English are can be seen ofvocabulary, grammar, pronunciation and intonation.This thesis is not absolutely perfect, so any comments and suggestionsfrom the readers are welcome. I hope that this thesis will be of benefit to you andable to contribute the development of literary study, particularly in givingdescription about the unique of language variation in around the world especiallythe variation of English. The writer hope the result of the research will giveaddition information, contribution and stimulates for the students of readers instudying literature.
