Abstract

Batul, Fatimatuz Zahroil. 2020. The Effectiveness of Clustering Technique in Teaching Writing Recount Text. A Quasy-experimental Research at the Eighth Grade Students of MTs Al-Hadi Girikusuma Mranggen Demak in the Academic Year 2019/2020. IAIN Salatiga. A graduating paper. English Education Department. The objectives of the study were to find out is that Clustering technique is more effective to teach writing recount text than Inquiry Based Learning at the eighth grade students of MTs Al-Hadi Girikusuma Mranggen Demak in the Academic Year 2019/2020. It was a Quasy-Experimental Research. In this research, the technique of collecting data were test and documentation. There were two kinds of test which were used, those were pre-test and post-test. In this research, the researcher took two classes as the sample. One class is experimental class teach students used clustering technique and other as control class used inquiry-based learning. Each class consists of 30 students. So, the number of sample is 60 students. The result of this research showed that the significant level (sig.) of pre-test between experiment class and control class got similar level at 0.000 ( ? < 0.05 ) and mean score of the pre-test in the experiment class was 64.2 comparing to the control class was 56.4. The mean score of the post-test for the experimental class was 67.9 while for the controlled class was 57.9. The score of sig. 2 tailed = 0.00, then ? value < ? by 95% significant level (5%) was 0.000 < 0.05. In other word, the research finding revealed Ha was accepted. Then, Ho was rejected. So, is that Clustering technique is more effective to teach writing recount text than Inquiry Based Learning at the eighth grade students of MTs Al-Hadi Girikusuma Mranggen Demak in the Academic Year 2019/2020.
