The teacher and the researcher used a generic structure to analyze the students’ writing skills. The objectives of this research were 1) to find out generic structure problems frequently found in student’s writing in descriptive text, 2) to find out causes of generic structure errors faced by students in writing descriptive text, 3) to find out the most dominant generic structure errors written by students in writing descriptive text.
