ABSTRACT Nuratih, Betaria Suci. “(An Analysis of Code-Switching Used in Small England Course)” A Graduating Paper. English Education Department of Teacher Training and Education Faculty. State Institute for Islamic Studies (IAIN) Salatiga. Counselor: Norwanto, S.Pd , M.Hum, Ph.D. The objectives of this research are to analysis forms and functions of code switching in Small England course Blora. This study used descriptive qualitative approach. The methodology of this research was analytical qualitative research. The technique of collecting data was observation, interview, recording and documents. The researcher used recording as the main data and the others were used as supporting data. The research found the technique of data analysis are used in Small England course; there are transcribering, identifying, classifying, and analyzing. The researcher found three forms of code switching that are used in Small England course ; they are tag switching, inter sentential switching, and intra sentential switching. Tag switching is simply the insertion of a tag in one language in an utterance which is entirely in the other language. The tag switching found in this research are kan, lah, tho. Inter sentential switching is the language done in sentence or phrase at the beginning or end of the sentence. Intra sentential switching is code switching within the clause or sentence. In this case, the students switch parts of clauses, lexical items, or even morphemes. The function of code swiching that is used in Small England course are as the familirity, repetition, and to convince someone. Keywords: Sociolinguistics; Code Switching ;Bilingualism.
